They monitor all the process on the computer and stops malicious process even before they start.

In the free version the scanning should be done manually while the paid version automatically scans your computer and it can be scheduled for a regular scans. The free version of Malwarebytes can be easily installed on to your computer in just few steps. Below are the instructions to install Malwarebytes free version

1.    Go to http://www.malwarebytesdownload1.org/ the official website of Malwarebytes and click on the free version download tab. The latest version is Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware version 1.50.1 released on December 2010.
2.    Once the download is done double click on the file to install the program onto your computer.
3.    Select the preferred language and click on ‘Ok’. To proceed further accept the terms and conditions and click on ‘I Accept the Agreement’.

4.    There will be many new changes to the new version, review the changes and click ‘next’. An installation path should be assigned for the program. To select an existing directory, click on ‘Browse’. To continue click ‘Next’.

5.    A Windows start menu program group needs to be assigned. If you do not wish to have this option, then checks the box against “Don’t Create a Start Menu Folder” and then click on ‘Next’ to continue with the installation process.

6.    On the final step you have options to enable or disenable the “Create a Desktop Icon’ and “Create a Quick Launch Icon”. These options when enables will launch a shortcut program icons which will provide a convenient method to launch or open the Malwarebytes application. Click on Finish to complete the installation.
